Can't get the 2011 Yukon XL Denali button to operate the garage door opener !!!! Yep, there are three buttons in the overhead console for this, owner's manual gives instructions. But it won't work with the Yukon buttons. The owner's manual does NOT say anything about using the door's transmitter like some YouTubes (likely for different year Yukons) do.

I tried Google Seaching, YouTube, followed the same directions. No dice.

Opener is a Liftmaster #8165 from 2016, so is a modern one.

Some Internet searching like on Liftmaster's page showed 2007-2010 Yukons and 2014-on Yukons, did not list 2011 !!! The owner's manual does list a separate phone number to call for help, so Mrs. Cusser will someday call that and inquire. Very frustrating.

Thanks, GM !!!!

I can't get my '11's one to work either. But I had no problem programming my '16 Equinox and my '20 Traverse.
I think my '11's opener module is bad. Not worth the money to change it vs using the openers clip on visor box.

I'm figuring that if Mrs. Cusser does call in for help, and that doesn't work, we'll just continue using the one remote which came with the opener in 2016. And extra remotes are available from about $10 on Amazon.

It appears that 2011 GM and Liftmaster is not compatible as such, needs a "repeater" device if you want that to work. Is available through Amazon.

Car2U - listed in the owner's manual with a phone number for assistance - is apparently out of business.

On the other hand, GM - unlike some other manufacturers - decided to wire their garage door buttons as "always hot" so a potential thief still only has to jimmy a door or break a window and then have easy access to open your garage and gain entrance to your house. So we've deciding against getting a repeater relay for ours. Others have wired their buttons so engine needs to be running.

Welcome to the world of changing technologies! When we had our garage doors and openers replaced, you guessed it, with "Liftmasters", I learned about the same incompatibility. My garage door company sent their technician out, he worked following both the Chevy Tahoe owner's manual, and the Liftmaster unit's manual, as well as called into the Liftmaster customer service. Answer was it doesn't work with the 2011 "Homelink' system buttons.
We each just carry our original Liftmaster openers on our visors. But I still love my Tahoe, and appreciate the way that the Liftmaster product functions!
