Wink Change transmission fluid?

I have a 2007 Tahoe, 2WD. Express oil change told me I need to flush my transmission. I am currently at 90,000 miles and don't believe it was done at 50,000 miles like he said the Tahoe manual recommends. I looked at the manual and it does recommend to change every 50,000 miles. BUT it does have a footnote stating, "change fluid and filter if the vehicle is mainly driven under one or more of these conditions: in heavy city traffic where outside temp regularly reaches 90 degrees or higher; in hilly or mountainous terrain; when doing frequent trailer towing; uses such as found in taxi, police, delivery service."

Nothing really pertains to me--it does get hot where I live and summers can reach 100 degrees on some days, but I would not consider it heavy city traffic. So does this mean that I do NOT need to change out my fluid???

Your help is greatly appreciated as, being a girl, I do not know much about cars

With 90K, I'd change it. Find a dealer that does a BG flush so you get all of the old stuff out and new filter.

You absolutely need to change your fluid if you want the trans to last. I highly recommend a BG flush as stated above. Make sure they use Dex VI or BG universal fluid.

Hey there kstough,
You're correct in that every 50,000 miles is recommended when the vehicle is driven under more severe conditions; however, it is recommended to have the transmission fluid changed at 100,000 miles for a "normal" servicing. You're right in this ball park! Be sure to keep to recommended fluids as well - see p. 563 in the manual for a full list.
