Default Changing fuel pump

I have a '97 1500 Suburban that I need to change the fuel pump on. I have the gas tank on the ground. What is the secret to getting the unit out of the tank? I don't see any screws/bolts to take off.

It's a ring that fits around the edge of the fuel pump unit that unscrews.

Yeah, a flat metal lock-ring with three flanges rotates and slides out of the other metal piece permanently attached to the tank. I've changed the sender and/or fuel pumps on a few GM vehicles and frankly I've never been able to get the ring off without needing to replace it, so you might want to go ahead and order another one now -- they're cheap. Also order the O-ring that goes under the metal flange.

I use rockauto.com for simple non-performance parts like this, they're fast and cheap. Drill-down to your vehicle, look under "Fuel/Air" then under "Fuel Pump Tank Seal". For my wife's Camaro (which I did just a few weeks ago) the lock-ring and O-ring came to about $8 with shipping. Should be more or less the same for your truck.
