Changing STOCK radio to DNX5120 CONCERNED!!
Hello Guys. First time here and first time poster.
My little lady hasa 2001 Tahoe LT. CD player is shot so i got hooked up with adnx5120 at a great price. Now i am a bit concerned with the install after reading so many posts. Iwas going to install it myself. I did get the wiring kit aswell but not the onstar adptr. I really dont care about it since we don't have a subscrip anyways. It's wrapped and under the tree so i can't open it up. just looking at the online manuals... Mainly got it for the Nav.
Spec's
stock system- non Bose.
Onstar.
all speakers replaced with MTX's. including Sub in rear.
sep. tape deck.
rear head phone jacks-but i dont care if these go inop. not used anyways.
NO- overhead video or sound controls etc...
I am not even sure if this beasthas a stock amp.
read lots of places that thespeakers won't play after the install and i must power the amp via the "pink" wire. and to hook up the brake wire to a switch. i am still on the fence about this one may not be wise for those around her..:-) i'll decideat time of install.
is this install really a pain should i have a pro do it???? radio seems simple enough but the Tahoe wiring, onstar, stock amp, sounds a bit tricky if you don't have detailed wiring dia.
I remember looking back there once and there's a lot more wires in that plug than this radio needs.
I have found some wiring diag.but they are very basic(the12volt.com).
I am not a complete green horn here. I have hooked up many radios, alarms, amps etc...in the pasted BUT before there wascar surround systems with center channels.- sorry old school here.
Damn!! can't believe i called myself old-school....
HELP me out guys

That is a double din radio. I don't believe you can fit it in the 2001Tahoe dashboard. If I'm wrong I'd like to know as I have a late model 2000 Tahoe. I just installed the 7120 in a 2007 Tahoe and don't believe I've ever heard of anyone getting it done on an earlier model.

It was from i shop so i can return it and get something else...
Is there any way that it will fit? Or is itsimply imposible w/o taking a hack-saw to plastic?
Thanks for the input.

Any of the radios that fit standard cars will fit in there with an adapter. I'll try to take a picture today of the wife's 2000 Tahoe. I put a JVC HD radio in that one with an adapter that is readily available at Walmart. Very easy install too. That style has a flip out DVD screen available in some of the radios. Not sure which one is the best in the GPS ones.
