Chevrolet service at it's best..NOT!!
Decided to get my oil changed at my local Chevrolet dealer this morning...normally take cares to Mr. Car Wash and get a free wash, but figured I would just stop by dealer..got there at 6:45am so I would be first in line....got there, talked to service guy and told him I wanted 5W30 as stated in the manual...he says ok. 1 HOUR AND FORTY FIVE MINUTES later, the car is done....$30 which is not bad. When I checked out, I looked at the invoice to see what king of oil, etc. they put in and it was not on there so I paid and started driving home...halfway there I see the sticker that states 10W30...now I know there is not a very big difference at all between 10W30 and 5W30 (I have always put 10W30 in all my cars) but the manual states 5W30 and I called GM and the engineer told me these engines are designed for 5W30. So I turned around and drove back to the dealer to tell them I wanted the correct oil...well, the dealer told me they don't have any 5W30 so I told them to drive to the local autoparts store and pick up six quarts....finally, after 3 hours I got my oil changed....Chevy service at it's best...

it always seems if one wants scheduled maintenance done to spec, one has to do it themselves.... Ordered several K&N oil filters and get my Mobil 1 at Wally Martinez (aka Wal Mart - Dallas) do it myself and its done to spec....I just do not feel comfortable when I leave those things to your neighborhood trusty dealership

A bad apple (Your Dealers Service Department) can put a sore eye on their entire product line. I would let Corporate know about your experience. Fortunately for me, My dealer goes out of his way to make sure all its customers service visits are excellent. In and out normally in 30-40 minutes.
sorry about your luck with the dealer. Do you live in a big enough town to visit another dealer? I always usually do all of our vehicle maintenance, but it seems thebusier I get the less time I have to the simpler thing in life. I just recently entrusted the dealership in which I bought my wife's tahoe and I could not be more impressed with the service that they have provided. 1st oil change at 800 miles, and asked to switch over the Mobile 1, picked up the truck broke out the wallet to payand bam NO CHARGE.

Don't remember his name, but when calling, I was transferred a couple times to different departments and when this guy answered, he said, "Sorry for the wait sir, this is XXXXX in engineering".....
