I’m brand new to the forum and I was hoping someone could help me with a clicking sound under the dashboard and a dead battery on my 2001 Suburban. Last week or so the alternator died (right in the middle of Hurricane Sandy nonetheless), I got that replaced at the dealership and left the Suburban untouched until today. I tried to go out and start her up and when I turned the key, absolutely nothing, not even the starter trying to turn over or clicking. I then tried to jumpstart it to no avail, and finally when I was about to quit and go back inside I heard a clicking noise, on and off, coming from somewhere in the car, even though it was completely off and the keys were in my hands. After maybe half an hour of searching I removed the fuse panel under the dashboard and heard the clicking noise louder than ever, but when I felt the 3 or 4 relays in the fuse box none of them felt like they were clicking/moving. I have already checked the fuses and relays in the electrical center under the hood, so I’m going to rule those out for now. Does anyone have any idea what the noise is and why it killed my battery? I’m so bummed out that I just got it back with a new alternator and now this is happening. If it’s any help I do have a remote start for the Suburban, but it hasn’t had any problems in almost ten years. Thanks in advance for any help!

How did you know the alternator was bad? How old is the battery?
