Default Climate control unit bad?

I've got a '96 Suburban that has some issues with the ac/heat. First the fan quit running on high, would work fine on any other speed. The 50 amp fuse under the hood was blown and blew immidiately when replaced. This was traced to a melted connector that caused a dead short. Got that taken care of and all was fine now yesterday it started acting up. It only blows out the bottom, fan works on all speeds, but the ac and recirculate buttons don't light up anymore. I'm assuming it's the whole climate contol unit that needs to be replaced. I pulled it out and it doesn't show any damage on the circuit panel and none of the components on the board look scorched. Was just hoping someone could verify that as the likely culprit before I spend the money on one. Thanks in advance.
