Default clunk noise when stop/start 2007

randomly when I start going like after a stop sign or light I hear and feel a slight clunk noise. it feels like it is coming from the drive shaft or further back. I have 46000 miles now and it is a stock 2 wheel drive. We just got the Tahoe a month or so back, would any issue like this be covered under the 7 year 100k warranty? I cannot seem to replicate it but it does seem to happen every other day or so.

it could possibly be u-joint(s). as far as warranty, i'd call the dealer and find out the specifics.

More likely the torque convertor clutch unlocking.

I would have guessed U-joint as well, but hard to say without being there.
I would definitely take it by the dealer and let them either say yes or no on the warranty (otherwise you might miss out on a free fix)

I will try to drop by this weekend to see. it does not seem urgent but probably one of those things that could get worse if not handled now. I would say U joint also just by the sound and area where the noise is coming from

Very common and a simple fix. Pull the drive shaft and put some sythentic lube on the slip yoke. Doubtful you'd have a bad u-joint or torque converter issue with those low miles.

even better, is this a pretty easy DIY? I would not mind trying to look myself if I knew what to look for...

It's very hard to see the yoke binding, but very easy to pull the shaft and lube it. Park it nose downhill to help prevent trans fluid from leaking out when you pull the shaft. A little synthetic grease on the splines and pop it back in. I'll bet your problem goes away. My '07 started this at about the same mileage. It was literally a 15 minute fix.
