Default Compatible parts? 2004 vs 2005 Chevy Suburban LS

Greetings Chevy Enthusiasts!

Recently had a chicken fight with an Elk.

The Elk won.

I've had to salvage my 2004 z71 Suburban.

I'm on the market for a new Suburban and considering a 2005 LS Model.

My question is, are the vehicles mechanically different from 2004 to 2005? Should I keep the salvage in the yard for spare parts? She was a beaut! and running perfectly. Are the parts relatively interchangeable for those two years? I had recently replaced the transmission and transfer case in the totaled 2004 Suburban last year, would it be safe to assume that I could use my old 2004 Suburban transmission in the 2005 model should she need it in the years to come?

Thanks! I'm not super mechanically inclined so bear with me.

Nico
