Default Confused about the wheel offset for 2007

I realize it is +30 or so now which more than the older Tahoe but can't you just drill a set of blanks? Is this a big deal to do?

If you use spacers your wheel is going to stick out even more. The hard part is finding wheels in +30. Finding something in less offset is the easy part. SO no, a spacer is going to move you the wrong way.

I actually have wheels with +35 and they fit perfect. They are even with the front fender. And the ride is really smooth...

Depends on your definition of perfect. +31 is the stock look with stock width rim. + 35 is out to edge of wheel well with what rim width?

Offset is the relationship of the mounting surface and the centerline of rim. +31 means that the mounting surface is 31mm out towards the curbfrom the centerline of the rim.

There is more rim inside of the mounting surface than there is outside. The mounting surface is not in the center of total rim width.

That picture isnt the best example. Look at the curb side and drum side. The higher the positive offset the more the wheel will sit in. The lower or more - the offset the more it will stick out.

THe picture looks as if the wheel is backwards. However, they have the drum and curb sides labeled for you.

Ok so that makes sense to me. If it was +15 then the wheels would be sunken in too far into the wheel well?

No, if it is a +15 it will be sticking out to far. Look at the drum/brake side of the wheel, then the curb/outer side of the wheel.

The stock offset is +31, therefore anything less than +31, +15 for example is a net difference of -15 so it will stick out more!!!

Don't picture the rim moving with the different offsets. Picture the rim still and the mounting surface moving. Once the mounting surface is adjusted in the rim (in your mind) then picture mounting it.
