Hi I have a 2002 suburban 1500 5.3 4x4. So my ignition was drilled out but was still able to start and run by using a screwdriver. It drove just fine to my location, I turned it off went inside for 30mins came back to truck and tried to start but it just cranked like it was out of gas. I went and got a few gallons and tried to start again but now it need a jump cause battery was low. While waiting for a jump I got bored and removed the key cylinder. Bad mistake cause when I did piece went everywhere. I was able to somewhat piece it back together. Finally got a jump but no start. Sound like no fuel. I listened for the fuel pump to hum while turning the key and nothing so replaced fuel pump and still no start or hum from fuel pump. Had it towed home and bought a new cylinder and key.still no start. Did the 30 min relearn and still nothing. Checked fuse and injectors for power and injectors 1and2 fuse plus ecm1 and etc fuse no power. Had someone come by with scan tool and no dlc codes. But digging deeper he found codes u1000 and u1016 and then it said inflatable restraint module. So I'm not sure if it's the module or the security system. Please help. Still no injectors pulse or fuel

 

is the security light on? do you have a spare key you can try? Did you change the ignition switch when you did the cylinder?

I don't think the SRS would prevent it from starting.

 

No the security light isn't on anymore so I think the relearn worked. And yes I did replace ignition housing also. And spare key??? The new cylinder and key came with a spare and also I still have the original key as well. Which by surprise can turn the new cylinder as well.

 

Any help out there?? So I was wondering if putting back in the old ignition housing is the answer because it's already programmed/linked to the ECU, do a 30 min relearn and hopefully work. Also I'm getting U1000 code and U1016.
