Default Cruise wont engage

I was recently on a long vacation drive, and the Cruise on my 2007 chevy tahoe quit working. Periodically I could get it to engage, and would work again for a while. I decided to try different things while driving, and see if I could get it to work. What I found out, was I seem to have alittle play in my brake pedal. If I pull the brake pedal up with my foot while driving, the brake pedal would move toward me very slightly. Once I have pulled the brake pedal toward me, then the cruise whould engage. This would work everytime.
Does anyone know if there is a switch on the break pedal that disengages the cruise when you step on the brake? If so, can it be adjujsted? By the way, I have adjustable pedals on the vehicle.

Yes there is a switch on the pedal to turn the cruse control off when you apply the brakes. It may have gotten knocked out of place. Usually they are adjustable. It maybe going bad also.
