My DRLs are on when the engine is running regardless of the parking brake being on or off.

When you apply the emergency brake, the day time running feature should turn off. Try it again and if it's still on I would cal the dealer and see if they can check it out.

I might mention next time I take it in. Really don't care much as don't use them.

They going to be on if your Tahoe is on- atleast from my experiences-
However, I’ve found that you can TURN THEM OFF by grabbing the round headlight switch on the left of the steering wheel firm, lightly squeeze and rotate the wheel to the LEFT once and let it go- you’ll see that your headlights are now off. Doing this twice will turn them back on- *And this will reset when you turn off your vehicle and open door..*And Another Plus Learned is if you really look at this button, you’ll notice two (square’ish buttons behind this headlight wheel- For this just press in. This comes in very helpful for turning off interior lights when not needed-depending on what you’re doing- this can help you. An Example; if you’re doing something with door open during day with plenty of light. (Working on radio, cleaning, etc,. Just hit that switch and your interior lights will cease and save unnecessary battery.

Depends on the model year. My '11 the DRL are only on when in gear. Can be overridden by turning to off from auto. like earlier ones.
