If I had any kind of warranty..ie a new vehicle...I'd leave the G80 in there.
My truck only had about 50K on it when that happened and NO offroading.
If you check alot of the other forums...you'll find that the G80 doesn't have a very good rep. It's right up there with the 4L60E trany.
Sometimes GM makes mistakes. They put a drivetrain in a 3 tonne vehicle that is probably OK in a 1-1.5 tonne vehicle.

I agree with you but keep in mind that it is easy to find negative posts on virtually any product, it's human nature to tell the world if you've been slighted but keep your yapper shut if everythings going fine.

BTW GM hasn't made a mistake since they converted the 350ci to a diesel

Agree'd….but not about the diesel. Lol!
Personally I believe the OBS (88-98) trucks are a flop. There's so many things that go wrong with them…they should have ALL been recalled and 're-built' from scratch.
Here in Australia, the Burb was introduced in 98 and abandoned in 2000.
Too many breakdowns and warranty issues.
I can't even buy a lug nut from a GM dealership here now (luckily I travel to the US once a year..come home with pockets full of the smaller parts…and a few in the suitcase).
So far I've:
Repaired the broken driver seat frame
Replaced drivers inside door handle
Replaced fuel pump and sender unit
Repaced motor (dropped main bearing)
Replaced/retrofitted 4L80E in place of 4L60E
Replaced diff (awaiting my 14bolt SF)
Replaced braking system (installed Hydroboost as Burb brakes are known for being VERY sloppy and replaced undersized warped front rotors)
Repaired faulty windscreen wiper motor cct board
They're the necessities.
I've made a few upgrades as well:
99+ PCM (faster processor…better tuning options).
Marine intake with 'normal style' injectors (unlike the OEM CSFI poppets/spider which were recalled and replaced in CA ONLY due to being blocked by fuel additives)
Whipple SC
Dual speed twin elec fans
Dual trany coolers.
Oh...and now I need to replace the hinge pins in the sagging drivers door.
But….I'd never own anything else. Lol! Love my Burb.
