Default ECBM Issue

2001 Yukon 5.3 code for ECBM. Just like to know if I should use traction control until I can fix this issue. I understand that the traction control works through the abs system. If the abs has a problem, couldn't it give the traction control wrong signals and make the SUV less stable? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Cheers. Wavelength.

Anti lock brakes and traction control work together, yes. Each of your wheel bearings has an electrical connector on it which attaches to a pickup (magnetic or hall effect, cant remember which) and it enables the Ecm to monitor the speed of all 4 wheels, and when it detects that one or more wheels are rotating faster than the others, it assumes that you've lost traction in those wheels. The ecm will use the antilock brake module to slow just the affected wheels with the brake until all 4 are turning at the same rpm again Often this electrical component (which comes as one unit with new wheel bearing/ hub assemblies) will fail, the fix is to replace the affected wheel bearing, or better yet, all 4. If you have access to a tech 2 tool, it will identify which of the wheels have the faulty speed sensor, but it;s a good idea to replace all as a set if you can afford it.
The vehicle will need to have that code reset when the repair is done, if memory serves me correctly
