Default ENG-1 Fuse/ acceleration issue

I recently bought a 97 suburban and thought it had a tranny issue as it was jerking at highway speeds. The car was starting fine and running fine other than this. Probably bad fuel economy but I have nothing to compare as it’s a new vehicle to me

While I was getting ready to swap the tranny, I happened to notice that the ENG1 fuse was burned out and discovered that it powered a bunch of different sensors. I traced the fuse issue to a downstream o2 sensor that was shorting out. Once I unplugged this sensor the fuse issue cleared up and I haven’t noticed anymore hard shifting or jerking in overdrive…

But now that those sensors on the ENG1 fuse are all working I’ve got a new issue - sluggish acceleration. The issue resolves once the engine warms up, but lots of hesitation for the first couple miles….

I thought it might be due to the downstream o2 sensor that’s now unplugged, or possibly due to a plugged catalytic converter. I doubt it’s the converter, however, since it was accelerating ok until I fixed the fuse…. I don’t want to spend a lot of money on O2 sensors since we don’t need emmisions test where I live, and because my exhaust pipe is in bad shape. I’m afraid removing sensors will destroy my pipes.

any ideas or suggestions??
