Default engine replacement ?

I apologize if its been asked before, I'm at work and not a lot of time to search. i have a 07 Burban 5.3 flex vin 0. the AFM decided it didn't want to AFM anymore if ya know what i mean lol. It damaged the cam and lifters. i have a 5.3 flex fuel engine from my 04 Tahoe, its brand new along with the 4l60 in it. paid 6500 for them 0 miles, they have about 40k on them. can I swap the motor, transmission from the 04 into the 07? and what all world i need to swap over? i have the whole 04 still it was rear ended

I would look hard at the engine and see if things are mechanically the same between the 04 and 07. The biggest issue is that you are looking at GMT800 versus GMT900, and the electronics will be different. You will want to keep with the electronics and wiring harness that came with the 07.

The other issue is.... those electronics (the ECM), if they expect an AFM equipped engine, will be trying to do that, and the 04 doesn't have that feature. So you may need someone to reprogram things for you.

Just my 2 cents, and that is about what its worth probably...
