Be sure to put something on the bottom corners so they don't beat up the paint.

Thanks to all for the advice I am going to put the plates on this evening if it is not raining, and I will definately put something behind the plate to protect the paint.

I have a 2007 Z71 and was wondering how you remove the front license plate frame. I see the two black "snaps" with a small hole in the middle, but don't know how to remove them. Any suggestions?

Are the two black "snaps" similar to the ones holding on the fender liners? If so, you need to pry/pull out the center section which will allow the bigger outer section to be removed.

They are actually one piece with a tiny (~1mm dia.) hole in the middle. Looks as though you would stick something in and press to release the tabs, but I don't want to start poking around without knowing what I'm exactly doing. I wish the Z71's didn't have the license plate frame...so ugly.

There is another type fastener that uses a small plastic pin (~ 1/16" dia) (hate metric) that is pushed in thru the head until flush. It spreads the legs on the back side. This type can be removed by pushing the pin on thru.

Why doesn't GM offer the molded plastic license plater holder for the front. They used to offer this in the past and it fits perfectly with the front bumper and offers a flat area for the plate That is a lot more aerodynamic that the existing setup with the 2 drilled holes.

The current front for the Tahoe is flat. no molded surround needed any more. The new 07 Trucks may not be the same.

May father's Silvy(classic) needs something. We had to used washers behind to even have the plate sit flat.
