Front Seat AC Vents not Pushing any Air
Hi there,
I have a 2022 Z71 Tahoe, and I'm having an issue with the front seat vents—no air is coming through at all.
This first happened about a year ago. One morning, the front fans just didn't work when I started the car. I took it to the dealership (it was still under warranty at the time), but as soon as I arrived, the fans started working again. They kept the vehicle for three days but weren’t able to reproduce the issue.
Since then, it has happened about three more times. Each time, the front fans would stop working for a couple of short drives—typically my 17-minute commute to work and then a 10-minute drive to lunch—but they would start working again afterward.
However, about two weeks ago, the front fans stopped working again, and this time they haven't come back on. I assumed it would resolve itself like before, but it's still not working. I’ve checked the fuse box and didn’t find any blown fuses.
Hoping you can provide some ideas on what the issue might be or advice on what steps I should take next.

If I had to guess, it would be a bad electrical connection to the blower, or the blower speed/resistor module under the dash. Could even be a loose ground path to the blower motor.
My son's 2005 Colorado (which he got from my dad, the original owner) had a similar issue with intermittent operation of the blower, and in his case, it was a ground wire under the hood, that traced back to the blower under the dash. He spent months chasing the issue, replaced the climate controls on the dash, the blower speed control module, even the blower. Still kept happening. I finally found a reference to the ground wire under the hood online somewhere, and sure enough, that was his issue.
Unfortunately, the only people with schematics for your 2022 Tahoe are the dealer service folk, but if you could gain access to those, them I would start looking at all the electrical paths to the blower, including the ground.

ptaylor - are you sure that the front fan(s) isn't working, or could the air instead be coming out either up by the windshield (like defrost) or under the dash (like heater flow)?? I ask because there are several air actuator switches in the dash to deflect the air flow, and these have had issues over the years.
