I have this same issue with my 2008 cobalt I fill up every other day so it happens alot. I just rotate the bottom of the pump as high as I can,(but not inverted) usually at about 9 o'clock. Works every time. Not a fix but atleast it doesn't take forever to fill.

hmmm.. I too have an 07 LTZ and this only happens at Kwik Fills for me as they have VERY fast pumps! But once and a rare while at the local Sunoco (slowish pumps) it will trigger fuel cut off... Hmmm... I wonder why you are having such bad luck... I have 122k on my burb. You?

GET RID OF OUR SUBURBAN!!!! RIGHT NOW GO TO THE DEALER AND TRADE IT IN!!!!!!!!

I have a HUGE list of problems, things gone wrong, and parts replaced since 96K. GET RID of your burb NOW! Unfortunately i cant afford a new one now and i dont want one newer than 2008 because the union was handed gm and then laid off many American workers... I am not buying another gm for a very very long time....

If you want I will list every single problem since 96k for you...

I am in upstate NY, around Binghamton...

Sorry to hear of all the problems you are having, I work at a garage and I have an extended warranty on the vehicle so repairs don't cost much if anything at all. I will try moving the fill handle around to different positions to see if that helps. I keep forgetting to call Chevy to see if there is an update as my wife's car is an 06 SRX and we don't have any problems filling that vehicle. If you want to list the problems you have had I would be interested to see if I have had any similar issues.

ok, since 96k i have had these tings go wrong:

new air compressor
new rear Bilstein shocks
battery went rather quickly
starter went open circuit
rear lift gate latch
summer 2011:
front left wheel bearing
front left axle shaft
3 new front rotors
3 new front calipers
3 sets of Wagner thermo quiets
(back to long list)
u-joints
master window control in drivers door
needs new AFM lifters (developed tick at 96k)
all but 2 of the outlets are dead

thats all i can think of right now...

So far since 96k I've replaced rear shocks with an aftermarket product which cost half the price of the original GM shocks. The rear air compressor which controls the shocks was covered under warranty but also replaced. The rear defroster wire came off the window but we epoxied it back on and it works fine. I need to do the brakes but that is normal maintenance. Overall I expect to have some failures on parts due to the mileage and age of the vehicle but it is still cheaper than buying a new vehicle and shelling out 600 bucks a month on a car payment. Bottom line I should be able to fill up my truck without all the issues that I've had. Oh yeah we replaced the carbon filter box and vent solenoid.

yeah i bought my rear shocks and compressor from Arnott. Much cheaper and the Bilsteins do ride nicer! air ride which works well once again

also, the rear window got replaced. forgot to add that to the list. tried re-soldering the connector but ended up shattering the glass into millions of pieces when i went to close it! got replaced by insurance (USAA rocks!)

unfortunately i have to keep an eye out on my front diff now... when we were in FL for spring break, took the Burb to brother-in-laws shop for little more maintenence and changed ALL of the fluids! the front diff was the worst, everything was factory except for Tranny (got done before FL trip) and the engine oil (of course). The front diff was pitch black and had a huge amount of metallic paste on the magnet, way more than it should have... My brother-in-law was about to call the junk yard for a used one, but it still works, but turns out the right seal is leaking..

I'm fortunate that we have a Transmission specialist, and electrical guru, and "The Wolf" besides the other mechanics in the shop. We tried soldering the connection back but it didn't take on the rear window so that's why we epoxied it I've had it up on the rack a couple of times and have noticed some seepage through the rack and pinion area, that is covered under the extended warranty. Hope the truck doesn't give you any more problems.

Default 2007 suburban fuel fill problem answer

The genius engineers at GM in their infinite wisdom have made the fill tube / neck significantly smaller. I know this because I've put 2 fuel pumps in our old 2001 suburban (never had any issue receiving fuel), and now I've put 1 on our 2007 (almost always has fueling issues, either belches it on the side of the truck, or myself, or my wife, even when pulling the trigger halfway, no matter what the position of the fill pistol.) What a "turd" this 07 is compared to our old 01 that we put 250,000 miles on and its a little rusty but still truckin' GM.....you are taking good pieces and going the wrong direction. In the short time I've owned this one, I have:
#1) due to excessive oil consumption (1 qt > 1000 miles) replaced the Drivers side valve cover with a "new design." on me, and had to drop the front differential and oil pan to install a "shield" on the active fuel management pressure relief valve (that whole system is a P.O.S!)
#2) Recently replaced the throttle body $250 due to bad throttle position sensors? WTF!! What was wrong with the throttle cable that worked flawlessly for 250,000 miles on the 01 GM? Lasted to long or what? I never had an issue controlling that beast, throttle response was always fine! Probably 10 more idiotic things I've had to repair on this thing, but this post would get to long. I also have a 2003 Duramax with 361,000 miles on it, and if I could buy that truck again, I would. But I wouldn't touch a newer Duramax with a 10 ft pole. Yep....they've screwed that product line up as well. (whole new story for another thread!) Its a sad day for me as I built and raced Chevrolets for a living for quite a few years when I was younger and vowed I would never own anything with a blue oval on it. But it looks like the tides have changed, or are at least shifting that way. My next vehicle may very well be a "FURD."
