Question fuel gauge is erractic

I replaced my fuel pump on my 96 tahoe, but when I put gas back in her my fuel gauge was bouncing all around. I was hoping if I could get a little guidance on trying to correct this problem. Any advice would be appreciated I am getting tired of keeping track of how much gas I have left in my tank.
