Default Fuel Guage

Hi Folks,
2005 Cheby Suburban 2500 / 4X4 with the 8.1 is the vehicle in question. Would any of you folks know if there is any sort of "RESET" for the fuel Guage? Vehicle's cup runnith over, but the Guage still reads "E" with the little "warning light" just a shining away. Thanx.

nope. Sending units common to fail. might as well do a complete fuel pump while yr in there. if you want to be sure check the sending unit wiring. dealers use a signal generator to check gauge movement.

New Development,
. So it turns out I was actually outta gas, and the fuel receiving tube just "would NOT accept fuel". As luck would have it, it went dry in front of one of the local Marinas, (I live near Lake Murray in Irmo SC) so I just coasted into their driveway. The fella inside gave me a 5 gal can of fuel to get back home. But I could only pour it in at about a cup full at a time.
. The plot thickens.......the feller what gave me the gas is a prior employee of a Chevrolet dealership service center and said there was a recall on these models concerning these "fill tubes". (He has an 06) The good news is my Guage is not broken. Yay.
Soooooo, would a recall on an 05 still be valid? ..... Do recalls expire? ..... Would any of you fine folks know of any "recall reference numbers"? Or even if there is such a thing. Thanx again for checking out my post.
