Default fuel pump

ok this may be a stupid question to some here but any help is apperciated.

check my fuel pressure and im not getting any. changed the filter and from the pump to the filter, there is still no pressure.

I can hear my fuel pump cut on, run, and cut off as if it were working right and building pressure. however with my issue, could the pump be bad still, or would my problem likely be from somewhere else?

could still be a bad pump, if you run it near empty a lot that also puts a lot of stress on the pump it runs hotter . the pickup screen could be dirty, but more than likely a weak pump.

i was, because the guage showed quarter of tank... tried putting more gas in today and got it started... kinda embarrasing. but i checked fuel pressure and its only getting 42 psi.. checked the haynes book and i should be getting 48-55 psi so i do believe my pump is weak, and also gas gauge is messing up... however it is running now. probably will still change the pump but as little as i drive, im going to try and wait till it warms up first!

Don't buy a cheap aftermarket pump. They are usually trouble and not worth it considering the labor involved. Get a Delco or Delphi pump. They are worth the extra money.

Recently I replaced the fuel pump and also the fuel pressure regulator of my Suburban by a Herko pump, it is working fine. The only intriguing thing is that the fuel pressure drops 3 psi after 5 minutes with the engine stopped, anda it should 0,5 as I have read in Chilton's manual.
