fuel pump??-'98 4dr
More than likely it is the fuel pump. It is best to replace the entire pump assembly (sending unit). It could also be the relay or a broken/ critter eaten wire but 98% of the time it is the pump unit.
you should be able to access the the power connection to the pump and verify if its getting power. If you remove the drivers side rear tire you can see the top of the fuel tank and reach the fuel pump power connection.
You can also apply voltage directly to the the fuel pump via the by-pass wire that is in the engine compartment near the power/fuse center.
but giving its age its is in all likelyhood the fuel pump.

Remember you get what you pay for. I have heard may stories of cheap pump failure. If youare paying somone to do it and it fails again you have to pay them to do the job again. Or you have to do it yourself again. Go with the dealer pump chances are better that it will last longer. If you have to pay double labor you really did not save anything and you will still have the cheap pump. You got 90k out of the oe you mostlikely get another 90k or more out of the good pump.
Replacing the fuel pump is not a difficult task if you are somewhat mechanically inclined.
It requires surprisingly very few tools or special knowledge thou you do need to be able to feel confident about your ability, and understand that you will be working with a very flammable fluid.
Look into purchasing the pump and check with any friends that are auto enthusiast that may be able to give you a hand.
It will take 2-4 hrs depending on your ability and motivation, it does require a specialty tool for removing the fuel lines but it is not expensive.
But by all means have it done professionally if you have any doubts and pay the extra to get OEM parts that will last as long as the original.
