Default Fuel pump gone bad?

Just curious if it's normal for a fuel pump to go out at about 56k miles. Pretty random...was just driving and at a red line the car just started acting weird, got it towed and turned out I had to get the fuel pump replaced.

Welcome to the forum
what year make and model are we talking about....
56k will most likely be covered under a warranty depending on the year of make..

Was it the original pump? Do you run the tank below a quarter full regularly?

As in2pro said, if it's a '07 or newer, probably covered under the powertrain warranty.
