just bought my 97 tahoe 4wd 350 5.7 i get a gas smell after i fill up gas only smells after i turn off the truck ive changed charcoal canister and gas cap any suggestions

 

Welcome to the forum...
I think you are on the right track with the canister as I suspect its probably something in the evap purge system or possibly a cracked filler neck hose or bad gas cap... make sure you stop filling when the pump cuts off and not topping off the tank as that is a sure fire way to ruin the canister and pollute the evap system with fuel....might want to check the fuel tank as well for any seepage around the fuel pump at the top of the tank...
