Brought my truck into the dealer for the PO442 code. Basically an issue has been detected in the Evaporative Emissions System which prevents the escape of fuel vapors from the gasoline in your fuel tank and fuel lines.
The dealer says the module is on the top of the gas tank but they can't get to it because of the rust on the strap mounts on the frame. They quoted me a new frame for what looks like a small welding job for a new bracket.
This is the second vehicle from this Arlington Texas Plant that has screwed me with a rusted frame. (08 Avalanche) previously. Wondering if anyone else has dealt with this and how you may have resolved it.
I think dealers can have heir hands tied and can (or will) only fix things the "approved" way. I think a local muffler shop could make some brackets for you and solve the problem.
