Default Gauge lights not working, car cranking won't start

Hello,
I have an issue with my 97 Tahoe, the lights in the gauge are not working and the battery gauge not moving, but I hit the small black box area the lights in the gauge switch back on and the car starts, and while driving the car sometimes in turns off and I need to repeat the process..
have anyone had the same issue and how did you solve it?
Thank you 😊

To me, sounds like an intermittent connection in the power wire from the electrical part of the ignition switch. I'd start by cleaning the contacts in that black connector "box"/connector.
