Tahoe & Suburban The power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.

Default Get features without subscribing to Onstar

My wife and I bought a new Suburban a month ago and are no longer getting certain features that I liked because the trial has ended. I get notices like "this feature requires a plan". These features include the posted speed limit sign in a square on the dash beside my actual speed, the ability to push a button and HEAR a text that I am sent. I really don't want to have to get OnStar to get these features. Is there a plan I can subscribe to for these features without Onstar? The myChevrolet app and website are not overly helpful. The "sales" person at our dealership was a waste of flesh and was most likely the owner's nephew, and sadly, was no help AT ALL. Thanks in advance!

OnStar plans are pretty pricey. From 49 on the high end to 29 a month on the low end. Several of our vehicles have offered a similar service. And invariably when the "free" period expired we've not renewed and they weren't as expensive as OnStar.

I would check and see if either Android Auto or CarPlay could be a work around. That's what we use. You get your text messages read to you and the nav map shows the posted speed limit. Hope this helps.

BTW, you sure that salesman you spoke with wasn't the owner's son in law??
