I think the engine in your burb is heaver than the smart car 
keep us posted on your project,i got mine for a steel the previous owner thought it needed a motor but a $55 crank sensor later and i'm driving down the road this my first burb and with 258,000 on clock it still drives great,dont worry about the carb get some books and learn how they work there simple enough
