Has anyone done a 6.0 or 6.2 engine swap on a 07-14 1500 Burban?

 

I can't answer that question, I am curious as to what the interest would be.

 

Seems like a lot of work for not all that much benefit. I'd think a super charger would buy you about the same HP with less effort/cost?

Haven't seen anyone on this site go that way, most here are just trying to do the best maintaining them. There are some other forums out there that do have guys who have swapped motors, most are the pick up trucks but the Tahoe is pretty much a short bed p/u anyway with some differences in the suspension and other places but the swap would be basically the same. Your biggest obstacle will be finding someone to reprogram the ECU or a replacement that will mate to you BCM. It takes a Tech2 programmer as far as I know for that. You might just consider some valve train work and a cam depending on what your looking to gain out it?

In theory, the 6.2 swap shouldn't be to bad since tahoes were available with the 6.2 in 2010 and Denali's and Escalades come standard with them.. Just saying. And no, I haven't thought to much about it.

I'm sure it can be done, and done with relative ease. Cost, on the other hand, might be something else entirely. The Yukon XL Denali gets the 6.2, so it's just a matter of getting the right bits, and getting them all to work together.

 

If that's the case... sell the existing one... and buy the one with the engine you want... that has to be easier/cheaper and certainly faster...

 

Though the Denali gets AWD, not part-time with a transfer case. Personally, I prefer having options to turn off the front wheels and having 4LO available for pulling a 20-ton garbage truck out of a ditch (yes I actually did that).

 

Since the LY6 6.0 has the same motor mounts as the stock 5.3. All that really needs to be done is a few adjustments. Like a 6.0 tune and a few other things then you are all set.
