Yeah, been there done that.

Since we are in the middle of winter now and its cold with snow on the ground I'm not even considering the install myself at this time. Would of been nice to have done but really no different than any other car I've owned at this point. I'll live. I might revisit the idea in the spring.

 

You might try an auto uphostery place. Some do heated seat installs.

 

Well I went ahead and ordered the heated seat kit.

I'm not even going to attempt it. Besides removing the seats and door panels that I expected you are running a whole harness for it back to the dash and tying it into the power module. It would be great if I had a garage and a second car but it's a much bigger project that I care to tackle these days.

Ok after reading the directions a few times, it's not so bad for the SUVs, it's the pickups that require some splicing and such. SUVs shoudl be plug and play. We'll find out tomorrow!

I was going to but I totally spaced out. There isn't too much to see though.

I started at 7:30am and just finished at 3:15pm.

It took me about 45mins to get both seats out and then another 45min to run all the wires and make it all neat and clean.

I started working on the seats at 9am in my living room. The first seat (drivers) took me 2.5hrs. I had to figure out how to remove the cushions which took a while and then run the harness. Installing the heating pads was simple. The passengers seat went a little quicker and I was finished with them at 1pm. The last 2 hours was reinstalling the seats, making the wiring connections, reinstalling the trim and then pulling the door panels and installing the door pull/switches.

Now I need to get a dealer (or someone with a scanner) to program it.

 

Went to the dealer this morning a little after 8am. They took me right in since they weren't busy and had be out of there by 8:45. Only charged me for 1/2hr labor @ $56.

When I told the guy I installed the heated seats he looked at me and said "You installed them yourself?" I said "yes" and then he said "wow, you're a trooper, those are the biggest pain for us." I told him it took me 8hrs to do and he said that wasn't too bad and was actually impressed, he remembers the first time they did it and it took 2days! He commented that I saved a chunk of change doing it myself, they charge 4hrs.
