Default Help with 2008 Chevy Tahoe

I got stuck on the parkway the other night driving home. All of a sudden I lost all power as if I had run out of gas. I pulled over and called roadside for some gas. They gave me a couple gallons but before I could make it to the next gas station it happened again but it just didn’t shut off this time. Just kept reving in Drive. I shut it off. Waited a minute. Then when i started back up same issue. Yes the gas was minimal but when I restarted it the only gears that would work were 1,2,&3. I had no choice but to inch my way to a gas station hoping that was it. It was not. So I started back up and shifted it manually for the rest of the ride. Wasn’t horribly far and I thought I handled it decent. At least no high reving. Shifting when I should. Just slow and steady. Took it to a mechanic in my town. He recommended a transmission guy of course. Makes sense. He has yet to look at it since the trans guy just received it and will be looking at it tomorrow.

Any body ever have a problem like this or something similar? Could it be a semi simple fix or am I thinking the worst here. Truck has around 30,000 miles for an 08. It was mostly highway use. Random trips of about 225 miles to a location and back the same amount.

Have a different vehicle for everyday use. Was always taken care of and constantly moved at the very least 2-3 times a week even if it was just a few miles. Any hep would be appreciated if you’ve had a similar issue. Forgot to mention it does also go into REVERSE. SO EVERY GEAR BUT DRIVE. Thanks!!
