I had the dealership install a chrome exhaust tip on my 08 tahoe. However, the section where the tip was welded on has a brown tint to it. Any suggestions on what I may do to get rid of it (cleaners, spary paint, etc)? I'm open to spray painting the welded portion if there is anything non-combustible that could be used. Any suggestions? Thanks.

 

I would think any high-heat paint would be fine.

 

i paint mine every month or so...
i use a "high heat" engine paint or a barbque grill paint... both in flat black......
it looks much better than the rusty look....

 

Paint mine withhigh temp paint. Scuff up the metal you're going to paint with something similar to steel wool just to make sure the area is clean first.

But aski4ikq eluded to, it is not a one time fix.

 

According to an insider the discoloration is normal at teh weld point.i paint mine with a high heat paint also. It works real well. I also painted the entire resonator to "hide" it.
