Help - transmission slipping!!!!
I purchased my 2017 Suburban 2 years ago at 107,000 miles. Immediately after purchasing we did a tune up, replaced spark plugs, serviced the transmission and fixed several wear and tear issues on the vehicle. Have had minimal issues since besides normal maintenance. Always have routine oil/fluid changes.
Last week I was driving and noticed the transmission slipping briefly. I got to a red light and when I tried to accelerate, the vehicle would not go into gear and I was stuck. I tried parking, placing in neutral, etc and could not get the vehicle to go into gear to drive. Ended up getting it towed to my mechanic. When the tow truck showed up after it sat for several hours, it drove fine! Still decided to tow since I had no clue was the problem was.
upon arrival at the mechanic, they were stumped. No check engine lights on, no codes being thrown. They thought it was some kind of control motor issue but couldn’t see any problems. Test drove the vehicle for a few days and it drove fine. After coming up with no issues, clearing out some very old codes that were showing, they returned the vehicle and told me to see if I notice it happening again. I’ve had it back for 4 days with no problems until tonight. It randomly downshifted hard and then seemed to be slipping again.
Checked the transmission fluid and the color is good, doesn’t smell burnt. What is going on? The last thing I need is to be driving this thing when it decides to stop moving again with my kids in it!
