So our burb keeps failing the emissions test. We have been told by the dealership that we need a new catalytic converter but it is also giving us a bunch of codes along with it.

We were going to see if we can fix some of these sensor. We read that it could even be just 1 sensor throwing the rest off, but now a mechanic friend of my brother’s who hasn’t see our burn, says it is all probably because of the catalytic converter?? The dealer wants over $5K to fix. We found a mechanic that said $3K ++ but that is just crazy money for a burb that already has $257K miles in it. We want to get a new truck but we can’t till later this year.
