Question How many miles to change tires

Hello All,
Recently bought a used Suburban (2017,LT, 45k miles). I am seeing it is having 275/55/R20 Continental (CrossContact LX 20) . Most probably it's stock tire. Internet says it will last 70k miles. Not sure if that's going to be true. Tire thread looks ok but not great. Any inputs ? What miles tires should be changed ? Also any tire recommendations would be great help.

One thing is to look at the age of the tire, it will be on the tire
There is also wear indicators within the treads.
. To me, tires are the most important safety thing on a vehicle.

Go by tread depth as you're only 4 years in; I've always checked tire pressures regularly, rotate, etc., and NEVER get close to the claimed number of miles. I've had Michelin, Goodyear, etc........

This goes for my two old VWs, 3 compact trucks, a 1984 Jeep Cherokee, 2 Suburbans, and 2 Yukon XLs.

for winter driving you need at least 5/32" tread depth. to pass a safety inspection it must be 2/32" or larger but imo they are a slick at that measurement. 2/32" is on the wear bars. you should be measuring the tires at each rotation.

if you have a part time 4wd the tire rolling circumference must be within 3/32 or you stress the tcase when driving in 4wd. if you have awd mismatched tires will destroy the pto.

I don't know, my vehicles have all been purchased in AZ. Might be an initial inspection.

But two largest counties emissions test back to 1967 year !!!! Zero in the other counties.

inspections vary in Canada province to province also. Rust belt provinces like Ontario require inspections every time a car is sold...even if its 1 month old.

In AZ does the insurance company require inspections? pretty scary if a vehicle never needs to meet safety standard anytime in its life.

Techs in Canada cannot pull plates if a car is unsafe. The customer is informed...signs a release and is off to do what they want. the shops only alternative is to call police; they can impound unsafe vehicles.

Nope. Insurance companies here in AZ do not require inspections.
