Default How to permanently disable rear proximity sensor?

I do a good bit of towing with my 2016 Tahoe LTZ...my 17 ' fishing boat, mostly. But somstimes I also tow a PWC, and often a light motorcycle or lawnmower trailer. Anyhow, whenever I shift into reverse, the rear proximity sensor "sees" the tow, and then chirps and vibrates non-stop. I realize it can be temporarily disabled in vehicle settings, but it resets itself back to "on" each time the engine is started. Starts to become a real annoyance pretty quickly if you tow very far, or very often. Aside from clipping the sensor wire, is there a way to turn it off, so that it stays off until turned back on again? (The menu setting "on, with tow bar" offers no help)

What was Chevy thinking???

Not sure what the difference is on the K2XX trucks, but whenever I have a trailer hooked up to either of my trucks, at startup I immediately let the "Rear park assist disabled" message. So the sensors see the trailer, and the computer recognizes it's a trailer and disables the system.

Ask your dealer if that's the correct behavior?

My 2010 Tahoe does the same thing so I think that's the way it's supposed to work. It automatically disables the rear sensors when the trailer is hooked up.
