I have an 83' Suburban and I am restoring some of it. I really would like to make it a boombox with new speakers. The only current speaker in a small dash speaker that is blown out. I was wondering if there was a place I could install speakers or which kind/type I should be installing.

 

Try Crutcheld.com. They have direct fit replacement stereos in all sorts of brands including kits to plug in your new stereo without cutting wires. They also have kick panel kits to mount speakers and subwoofer boxes for the rear. I’ve installed 3 stereos from Crutchfied.5 stars.
