Well I had some free time Saturday and the weather cooperated so I was finally able to install the computer modules that I got from Blackbear Performance. I didn't go to radical on my tune, only slightly firmer shifts and 50% reduction in torque management.

It took about 10 minutes to swap out modules, no problem. When I tried to start the truck, nothing. The instructions explained this might happen so I was prepared. I had to perform a re-learn procedure which consisted of leaving the key in the run position for 3 - 10 minute intervals with about 45 seconds in between. Not a big deal. After the 3rd time, the truck started.

After the install I drove the truck around town running errands. Right away I noticed the truck accellerated quicker from a stop, shifted firmer, and rev higher. I'm kind of an aggressive driver so the increased throttle response made the truck seem smaller and more nimble.

Today I drove the truck to a friends house about 25 miles away and was able to use the highway. The truck definitely accelerated harder making entering the highway and passing easier.

So far I definitely happy with the performance results. The truck is more fun to drive because it reacts quicker and accelerates harder. The gas mileage seems to be about the same. According to the gauge, it was around 14 mpg before and is around 13.8 after 2 days with the tune. I might incease the shift firmness and reduce torque management to 75% or all-together.

Unfortunately not everthing is perfect. The check engine light is now on and the remote start dosen't seem to be working (maybe due to the light). I have an email into Justin and I'm waiting for a response. He usually takes a couple days to get back, I'll keep everyone informed.

Thanks for getting back to us. I am hoping to get mine soon. I'm thinking I want to remove the torque management completley. When the truck shifts I want it to sorta jump into the next gear, but not bang.

Don't forget the reason for the torque mgmt which is to protect the drivetrain from bang-bang shifts. Probably one reason for the extended drivetrain warranty.

That being said, I'd like a little less of it. It almost cost me a stoplite drag w/ a Durango Hemi cuz it makes it so slow off the line. That was w/ the Superchips and premium.

Yeah, remote start won't work with a CEL. Be sure to report back with the CEL solution.

Yep. Let him off the hook as there was someone in his lane and he was either going to hit him or me or both if I stayed in it. I guess the Hemi has torque mgmt too.

Default Hypertech MaxPower install

I just picked up a used Hypertech programmer. I have a 2007 Suburban, and during install they say you should remove the fuses for OnStar, satellite radio, and remote starter.
Can someone tell me which fuses these are?
I don't have much time and my internet searches have been fruitless except for this forum...
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

The fuses are in two locations, both on the driver's side. One is at the end of the dash and is visible w/ the door open. The other is under the hood over the wheel. Both covers have fuse IDs and you might also check the owner's manual.

After you get over your initial disappointment w/ the Hypertech, check out Blackbear tune.

Thanks Shark. I got the Hypertech used and relatively cheap. I don't have the money right now for the BlackBear likely. Anyway, I am just looking for basic performance improvements and to remove the restrictions on the stock vehicle so that I can get a decent performance on the Suburban. It's the family vehicle so don't need anything race-like. I do have a couple of tuned imports that I might want to invest the money in....and a couple of (dare I say it in this forum?) classic Mustangs! OK guys, don't excommunicate me now!
