Good question as to why you need Bose. Since the C1 & C2 connectors/electrical signalsare common from the base radio up to the NAV unit, I don't know why you would need the Bose system. The only difference that I am aware of in the C1 connector is that positions 4 & 5 will be empty (they are used for NAV voice commands)

The Nav units (UVB & U3U) along with the multi-read CD/DVD/MP3 (UVA) stereo do not have onboard amplification (they are pre-amp).
That's the reason that these units cannot be ordered from the factory without the Bose/amp (UQA) speaker option.

I just spoke with the guy thats selling me the navi deck .....he said that it is in lock mode and it needs to be flashed by the gm dealer .....is this correct ZX?????

It might help clarify a bunch of these questions if you read through some of the posts about the OEM nav install. It is stickied at the very top of the first page of the Tahoe forum.
To answer your question any Nav unit removed from its original vehicle will need to have tech two programmed. It will be in theft lock mode if it is a used unit and has been installed in a prior vehicle!
