Default installation of a Tuner? Who's done one?

I have a 2008 Chevy Suburban with a lift and 35 inch tires. My wife drives this everyday and we are getting really bad gas MPG. Around 12 give or take. I talked with a few people about installing a Tuner to the truck and one guy said he now gets 18 MPG on his Lifted Suburban. Anybody done this? and what's the pros and cons?

I am running the Edge CS in my 07 2500 with the 6 liter. I have it set on economy mode. Still plenty of power. I average 14.5 on the streets and close to 19mpg on the highway if that helps.

Thank you! The Edge was one of the suggested Tuners by our local Auto parts store. I do appreciate the reply and I think I might go ahead and try it out, even just 3 MPG's more would be great. especially at $4 dollars a gallon, we drive a lot so it wouldn't take long to pay off the Tuner with the savings. Now if I could just get the stupid traction control to stop having issues.

Not a problem, just keep in mind Edge tuners are not compatible with Macs, you will need a PC for using the software or updates.

don't get a tuner. They really don't do much. I've had em all, or have installed a few on mine and my buddies trucks before I found out what you really need to wake your truck up. Get a custom tune, not a in box tuner from edge, hypertech, superchip, or bullydog. Contact justin at blackbearperformance.com or charlie at gowheatley.com, charlie has tuned my truck and it is a beast. I have quite a few mods done and my bro with the exact same setup truck/lift wise gets 10ish mpg while i'm gettin 13.5 city.

Oh and there's no way that on a lifted tahoe he's gettin 18 mpg. Don't look at the DIC to give you a accurate readin on mpg. You have to hand calculate it, and if he's runnin bigger tires, it's actually throwin off his speedo.
