i can "see" that but..... whats so important that you have to stare into acave????

if any of the systems the gauges indicate have an issue, i am sure an "idiot" light will come on or the dic will spell it out for you...

pretty lame complaint forafine vehicle...

just my 2cents.

like i said in my first post..... i have never owned a vehicle that the cluster lights were on without the head/park lamps on...

what have drivers been doing all these years.......

i dont think chevy will fix what aint broke....

sell it, mod it, or get over it....

We have owned two 2007 Tahoe’s and experienced backlighting issues with both. I brought this issue up in this forum around September of 06’. The response I received at that time was similar to the comments from Ki4izq[/b] stating they didn’t have a problem with their Tahoe’s and I must be nit picking etc. In fact the all knowing Mr. ZX1100F1[/b] was one that stated that he couldn’t see a problem with the backlighting issue and that I was needlessly complaining. I have also contacted GM about this matter with no results. Now it’s been well over a year since my initial complaint to GM and more and more people on this forum are realizing the same problem including Mr. ZX1100F1[/b]. Anytime a driver diverts theirs eyes away from the road it becomes an unsafe condition. Diverting away for extended periods of time just to be able to read an instrument cluster becomes a very serious safety issue endangering lives with a 5,000 pound vehicle. GM obviously realized that they had a design problem with the 07’s so they made a change in 08’lighting the cluster at all times. So my question to GM and anybody elsethat will listen is what’s it going to take to get GM to fix our problem. How many accidents or deaths will it take to make it cost effective to reprogram a damn computer program?

I don't understand why a dealer can't program the 07 to do what the 08 does as it is virtually the same vehicle using the same software? Should not be too much of an issue I wouldn't think. To answer ki4izq the issue is the way GM has designed the instrument panel deep into a "cave" that is very hard to see at "certain" lighting angles. Sometimes it presents no problem and other times you virtually can not see the any of the guages. Manually turning on parking lights or fog lights every time you start the car is not an answer as sometimes I forget to do that and now I am driving and having to take my eyes off the road to turn the lights on also, not good.

You guys need to quit trying to sensationalize this tiny issue that only some people complain about, if you are having a hard time seeing your instruments then turn on the park or headlights it is just that simple, this will prevent the needless and senseless loss of life that you’re so concerned about, I mean you are concerned enough about it to warrant taking a tenth a second out of your busy lives to turn that little switch aren’t you?

The response from ZX1100F1 (Dave) is just what you would expect to hear from an individual entrenched in the GM Corporate World. I would expect no less from a company where the bottom line is money. Money is always the issue until something tragic hits close to home. Then and only then will the owners of the vehicles see a solution to this problem.

i thought i was going to leave this thread behind but it keeps getting more and more crazy...

how in the world can dash lights be a safety issue???? the truck can be driven without ever looking at them... furthermore, if you are whining so much about safety, why are you taking your eyes off the road to begin with????

i have been trying to find some reasonable idea why we are talking about this anyway, but i cant.... this whole thread is pure stupidity and i cant believe i am actually participating....

come on people, lets get back to reality.

Is this thread for real? Are people really this ignorant? What about cell phones, ipods, nav screens, illegal "while in motion devices", drinking, eating, smoking, andlooking at your wife while driving? These take your attention off the road in every type of lighting condition?Aren't these just as dangerous?

Until GM determines if it needs a fix...........turn on your lights.............or buy an 08................problem solved.

Is there a problem with dark guages at times? YES
Should it be fixed? I think so
Is it a saftey issue? I dont think so. If you cant read the guages turn on your lights. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
