Default Intermittent wiper fix

My windows wipers seemed to have a mind of their own. Sometimes they would work, other times they would quit while on the highway in a rain storm. I suffered through this for a while because I don't like to just start replacing things. I like to know what is not working. Anyway, I failed an inspection and the guy was nice enough to give me a tip. He said 90% of the time, it is a solder connection failure on the circuit board of the motor and he even told me which ones they were. Got home and just took off three screws and sure enough, solder broke away. Lower left hand corner of the board there are three solder joints between the black dots. The one to the right had a perfect rectangular break in the middle of the solder. Just a couple seconds to heat up and good as new!

Hope this can help someone else.

Thanks for the DIY tip and pic.

Solder joints are a common failure point on most electronics, especially in areas of high temp. Lots of thermal stress and a poor solder joint will fail.
