I think I might just try and run the xbox and have people use the built in tv and tell them to suck it up.

So I ran and got a Stanly 800W inverter (with alligator clips directly to the battery) only because it had a handy dandy digital readout of the watts it was using on there. Got home and got the xbox all hooked up, and had the wife push the power button while I watched the readout. I didnt get any spike, but it topped out at 226W. The xbox we will be taking on trips is a friends that is newer and more energy efficent, so in theory it will draw less. I am going to hang on to the stanly inverter for now, but also am going to pick up a 400W inverter and give that a shot running off the cig lighter/power port.

depends on how efficent the inverter is as well...

the inverters I am looking at are 90% at full load and 95% at 1/3 load

Hello,

I don't know how far along you are with this, whether you've solved your issue or are planning another route, but I have two inverters running in my 2003 Venture; one in the glove box and a larger under the passenger seat (used for a microwave oven, coffee pot, etc). Matter of fact, after Hurricane Irene left us powerless, those inverters powered my home.

Anyway, I have some instructions and images I can link for you if still interested. Our setup won't be the same, but you might get some ideas. For what it's worth, I'm one of those "no visible wires" guys, and my work is as clean as possible. Let me know if you're still interested in the details.

Jeff
