Issue with 07 Tahoe front brakes
Ot 07 Tahoe LTZ has 3800 miles on it. Every since day 1 (bough it new), we noticed the front brakes would squeal a lot when lightly pressing on the brake pedal. It's like a metallic scraping squeal....not normal brake squeals. The noise would away as you continue to press on the pedal. Then when you let up on the pedal, it would squeal again as it passed that same point. Even when driving sometimes, it would squeal rythmically as the wheels turned. I started getting annoyed by this at around 1800 miles when I noticed the front rotors were all grooved up...especially on the right front. I figured something was wrong with the front pads (mainly the one on the right).
I took it in to the dealer showed it to them....and said that I think it needs new pads and now new rotors as they are all grooved up. The technician said the rotors were "bad cut" from the factory and they decided to replace both front rotors. I asked why they didn't replace the pads and they said they didn't need to be. So I took the truck and drove it home. The next day, the noise was still there. I had a busy schedule and just finally got into taking the truck to the dealer again (now with 3800 miles on it)...we took a 900 mile trip to SoCal and it squealed so much! The front rotors were all grooved again after only 2000 miles on them.
This time, the dealer replaced both front rotors and all front brake pads.
So far, we have only driven it 20 miles since we picked it up from the dealer, but we'll keep an ear out for the squeal. If it comes back, then it's gotta be the brake calipers....maybe something wrong with how the calipers are applying pressure to the pads via the pistons?
Anyone else having this issue?

I have noticed the squeal when I am lightly pressing the brakes. It happens as you describe. I have not noticed it when driving. I have not said anything to the service department yet, but I will during my next visit, not sure when yet. If I get any information from them, I'll let you know. Let me know if you hear anything, and if the problem has been corrected.
I seem to have the problem when the brakes are cold. Like in the morning or when the truck has been parked a while. They squeal when I lightly brake like when braking through a parking lot or out of my garage. I took it to a dealer and they said its normal because the pads are metalic. Doesn't sound "normal" to me.

Mine only do it occasionally and its always seems to be after a night of rain or high humidity. I assume its a light surface rust on the rotors from the moisture, but goes away after 2-3 presses on the brakes.
