K1500 5.7 surging
1995 suburban 4wd.
Engine surges every few seconds with the ac clutch trying to engage. The ac and heater are off, haven't had ac in this truck in years. Water pump is bad and have a hole in the heater hose disconnect. Would one of these cause my problem or should I be looking some where else?

So after some online searching, I came across a similar problem and tried their solution of turning the vent control to the floor position (ac and heater still off, just turned the positioner) and the surging has stopped. Not sure what to make of this though.
AC is turned on in the defrost position, going to floor turns it off. Disconnecting the connector to the compressor clutch will end the problem and you will be able to use the defrost position with no issues.
