Default Leak, anyone know what this is? 02 suburban 2500

noticed a little oil coming from the black canister in this pic. Looks like concentrated around the black plastic conduit coming out of it. Anyone know what the canister is?

thanks!

The photo is too up close. Hard to tell what area I'm looking at. I'm going to guess that it's your transfer case, and the cylinder is the shift motor. Transfer case is filled with gear oil.

Sorry yeah it’s right by the transfer case, I think you’re right. I just googled transfer case motor and it’s exact match. Looks like there’s a gasket in there I could clean up off the leak gets worse. It’s not really dripping or anything yet, but I’m sure it will eventually.

That is the shifter, the black object is the motor. There shouldn't be any oil in the cavity where the shifter slide on the transfer case shift rod, however it is probably the shift rod seal.
