Okay, my next set of LED's arrived, they don't have as many LED's as the previous set did so they will not be as bright but that is okay as I really don't want my license plate lit up like a road side billboard for Buc-ee's anyway ...
These are also from Amazon, they were $5.99 for 8 of them.. >

The picture of them installed is with the cover shield off, I did put it back into place but wanted a picture that displayed what they look like sans cover.

I'll try and follow up with a night picture but those can be rather subjective as the aperture open time can make them as bright as the sun or as dim as a distant star... but you'll get the idea...

I took a quick picture this morning... it was with my phone so the pic isn't that great and the street light was casting its orange glare... none the less I think the new ones are adequate....

Good looking light.

Do you think these will burn out/fall apart like the last ones did? I can only find that they are built for 12v, I cannot find anything that says they are rated for up to 14v. Thanks

So far the license plate lights are holding up...but I want a real world test... So with the help of my battery charger and some test clips and a meter we will see how it holds up...
Charger set to 12v 10amp output reads almost 14v no load...
Hook up the LED and the voltage drops a bit with the load to about 12.5v...
This should be every bit of what it would get in the truck... I'll give it a few hours

I gave the LED light a good 7 hrs of time on the charger, it was still bright and un-burnt... I think we have a winner

Just a follow up on this threat about the LED's holding up...
so far all of the interior ones have been performing well no issues...
the replacement LEDs T10 194 168 501 4-smd 3528 LED Car Light Bulb White referred to in post #21 are also doing well for the license plate...
At this post writing the are 3 months old and doing well
