Default Lift Gate Applique broke

Yea I did it, backed out of the garage with the lift gate open and broke the Applique off. That's the plastic part that holds the lights for the license plate and switch for the lift gate glass. Looks like the wiper post is tweaked too but still works just fine. It wrinkled the metal a little but not too bad. Was wondering if anyone else did this? The mounting stud mounts in the applique all pulled out of the plastic and are in the lift gate yet. It did not crack the outside of the plastic at all. My plan is to try and find a paintless dent repair guy to see if he can straighten the metal, then try and either epoxy the mounts back to the applique or use some 3m tape to attach it back on. Looks like I can buy a new part but would have to paint it. Figure It wouldn't hurt to try and salvage the old one and save some money. Any other suggestions?

Sounds like you just about covered it. Recommend JB Weld epoxy.

Probably be best if you removed the plastic pieces from the screws before you epoxy them back on. Of course that will require removal of inside panel but will allow you to get the broken pieces to mate better.

Good luck.

I might have a better solution than trying to epoxy the mounting studsback in. How about just picking up some of that good VHB 3M tape and sticking it on? That tape is used to hold on other trim products to cars and trucks.
